What the.....
This story really made me upset, The Storm although a natural thing made things that shouldn't have happened, happen. Then it made me realize the events that lead us to engage in other events. I think that this happened because of the weather, not saying that it was alright for Calixta to sleep with Alcee but it was a assistant to the murder. Or in other words a path leading to them having that affair, because of the situation of rain, cold, alone, and just needing comfort, this is way it happened. To answer your question is it in some situations alright to have an affair, my answer is no. No matter the weather, the anger, or the feeling of being alone one should never have an affair, no matter the type of relationship. Whether it be a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship or husband/wife, if you are in a relationship you should be faithful no matter what. These are my opinions on how you should act when in a relationship and my feelings towards having an affair.

I totally wanted to write a post about the weather in The Storm as well, but you beat me so i will comment on your post..lol..
ReplyDeleteI think natural or unnatural events make people do abnormal things, like giving into an attraction for another person because they may never get to tell that person how they feel. This is the case with Calixta and Alcee with the rainstorm, this natural weather pattern provided a shield against the realistic world of their lives and further aides in hiding their secret feelings for one another from their family members. The rain in a sense washes away the safety and cautious nature Calixta and Alcee and allows the truth to shine through. Not that i agree with their actions in any form; but in a way i can relate to the 'release'and honesty weather can bring to relationships.
Back in 2006-07 i was a freshman in college living away from home and dating a guy my parents didn't approve of, and to this day i don't know why i did. One night he was dropping me off at my apartment and it was cold and pouring rain, he had a long drive home so we were saying good night right outside his car IN THE RAIN..lol.. and he looked into my eyes and asked me if he could kiss me, i said no after a minute and we hugged and said good bye. At that moment in the rain the truth of his feelings came out and so did mine.
So to agree with you k-cel about affairs and related to my story i think weather can be an excuse to do abnormal things but the weather shouldn't affect how you think or act in those situations especially if you are a mother or a father, happily married or not Calixta and Alcee had no excuse for their behavior. If i was 19 when i had my experience in the rain why can't Calixta and Alcee, two grown adults be responsible and do what is best for themselves and their families!? I BLAME THE RAIN!!
